It’s often said that a face can tell a thousand stories. And the real beauty of portrait photography is that every shot is as individual as the person in it. Capturing a face can be one of the most satisfying and rewarding types of photography

Why First Portraits?

I believe that everyone should look as great as they can and feel comfortable in their own skin. Portraiture is about more than just taking a great image, it’s about capturing an energy and uncovering the person within. I pride myself on being able to create a comfortable and natural working environment that puts people at ease and create images that capture something true to my subject.

Started in 2017, First Portraits was set up to provide an affordable solution for aspiring actors, dancers and professionals who needed portraits to help them transition into their careers. The cost of training, studying and living have never been more demanding and especially for people who pursue creative career paths such as acting, dancing and even entrepreneurial passions. First Portraits is meant to be accessible to all and I try as much as possible to provide affordable means for new talent to get great images.

My Journey

Whilst at university I worked a lot on various theatre projects and dance productions. It allowed to me exercise and put to use my love of photography and I found many friends who were transitioning from studies to the professional world approach me for headshots to get them started. I really enjoyed this and especially helping to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera. My Photography has taken me on many adventures and now I do a variety of things from creative personal projects to more commercial image making. I shoot everything from fashion, theatre, food and still life but I always find that its in portraiture that I return to find endless satisfaction.  It brings it back to a conversation and reminds me what I love about photography.

What people say

What some super nice people have said:

Becky, Singer

"Working with Rajee was an absolute pleasure. I usually dread having my photos taken but Rajee was not only extremely creative, collaborative and organised but helped me work through the poses, settings and scenes that best fitted my needs. Would whole heartedly recommend, especially to those who might not always feel the camera loves them. He will turn you into a model."

Saara, Dancer

“A portrait photo shoot with Rajee was a very pleasant experience. I was quite nervous about being photographed at first, but Rajee helped me feel natural in the photos through engaging me in conversation and making the atmosphere fun and playful. I am very pleased with the results, I got portraits that represent me at my best.”

Jesse, Actor

Elly, Actor & Trainer

"I am not someone who is very fond of having their picture taken or comfortable in front of the camera. But Rajee made it in to such a friendly easy thing that I didn't feel like I was under pressure behind the lenses at all. He was very creative with his methods of lighting and to great effect. Very happy with my head shots. I won't update them with any other photographer!"
